If you have ever had your carpets installed or had your carpets replaced in Ogden, you know its not cheap. There are lots of ways to care for your carpet to make your carpet last longer and make your carpet look new again. One of the main things you can do at home to increase the lifespan of your carpet is frequent vacuuming. Frequent vacuuming will not only help keep your carpets clean but will increase the longevity of your carpets. Another great way to keep your carpet looking new longer and lasting longer overall is making sure you get your carpets professionally cleaned ever year. Although vacuuming picks up a lot of the daily dirt, dust, hair and allergens that settle in your carpet there are still a lot of particles that get pushed below the carpets surface or embedded into the carpet fibers. Most commonly heard is you should get your carpets shampooed. Wrong, shampooing carpets is no longer the most effective way to clean your carpets. When you use some of the older carpet shampoo cleaning techniques you will find not only is there still dirt below the surface, your carpets can take up to twelve hours to dry and there is usually a stiff feel to the carpets from the shampoo being left behind in the fibers. When getting your carpets professionally cleaned you want to make sure you are getting your carpet cleaning done right by getting your carpets steam cleaned using the Steam extraction method. The Steam extraction method cuts down on drying time and leaves no left over residue in your carpets, increasing the life of your carpet. Are you someone that constantly vacuums and keeps up on the yearly carpet steam cleaning in your home, yet your carpets are still looking lifeless? Most commonly when someone says they need new carpets it is due to what we call carpet bunching. Carpet bunching is when you will see a small lift in some areas of the room or hall. In worse cases you will see areas of the carpet that are rolled up or bunched up in rivets across the carpet. This is typically caused by hi traffic on the carpet and can be the source of one or more issues. As carpet ages and is used the backing of the carpet can stretch out causing the small lifts in the carpet or even the larger ripples in the carpet. Another cause of carpet bunching may be from the carpet detaching from the tack strip. The tack strip is basically a carpet gripper. It is placed around the perimeter of the room and the edge of carpet. The tack strip holds the carpet in place while the carpet is stretched out to all sides of the wall and then tacked down to hold the carpet in place. After the carpet is attached to the tack strip the strip is either stapled down or nailed down to hold it in place. Over time and traffic on the carpet these tack strips can become lose or detach causing the carpet to bunch and have ripples. Weather your carpet has stretched, or your tack strips have fails this is when we can come in and stretch your carpets to remove any bunches that may have appeared over time. Using a carpet kicker and a carpet stretcher we can stretch your carpets back to where they need to be, re-tack the edges and remove any excess carpet that may now be at the end. The carpet stretching technique not only brings life back you your carpet but saves a lot of money on buying new carpet. Ogden carpet raking Another method we like to use when cleaning your carpets is carpet raking. Sounds a bit odd, raking carpet? Yes, carpet raking is a technique used to not only fluff your carpets but also remove and lift hair, dirt and dust so it is easier for you vacuum to suck up the ground in particles. The carpet rake or carpet brush is made up fine bristles that help pull up the carpet fibers and dirt for a better deeper clean. Your carpet is also left looking smoother and feeling softer than before. A carpet rake is a tool you can purchase to use between cleanings to help prolong the life of your carpet and increase the cleaning efficiency of your vacuum. .
